Note: The mover and the seconder must be members of the General Synod and be present in the House when the resolution is before the synod for debate.
BE IT RESOLVED:
That section 39 of the Constitution of the General Synod be amended
1. by deleting section 39 a) vi) and substituting the following:
vi) Communications and Information Resources Committee.
2. by deleting section 39 f) and substituting the following:
f) The Communications and Information Resources Committee shall consist of fourteen members:
i) 10 of the members shall be elected by the General Synod
ii) at least 6 of the members elected by the General Synod shall be members of the General Synod, of whom at least one shall be a member of the Council of the General Synod
ii) 4 members shall be appointed by the Primate who, in making the appointments, shall consider expertise in aspects of the Committee’s work
iv) at least 2 of the members must be members of the Anglican Journal Board.
EXPLANATORY NOTE/BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The proposed amendments would change the name of the Committee, reduce the membership of the Committee from 17 to 14, and ensure an overlap with the Anglican Journal Board.
