Opening Service

The Thirty-Seventh Session of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada convened in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre, Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario, at 7:00 P.M.  On behalf of the Credentials Committee, Chancellor Ronald Stevenson reported that a sufficient number of each Order was present to constitute the Synod:  Order of Bishops – 37, Order of Clergy – 113, Order of Laity – 143.  The President of the Synod, Archbishop David Crawley, Acting Primate, declared that the Thirty-Seventh Session of the General Synod was duly constituted.

Act 1

The Holy Eucharist was celebrated with the Acting Primate, Archbishop David Crawley, presiding.  Following the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Archbishop Crawley delivered the Presidential Address.  (Appendix A)

A reception, hosted by the Diocese of Niagara, followed.
